As an adult, no matter what age you are, straightening your teeth can be life changing. Straighter teeth are easier to clean than crooked ones and gums fit more tightly around straight teeth. And of course, there's the confidence boost that comes with straight teeth and a beautiful smile.
As cosmetic dentistry becomes more and more common, products that people can wear with comfort and confidence are becoming more and more widely available. For manufacturers, the challenge has been to design and develop orthodontic products that not only look discrete, but that also work just as effectively and dynamically as conventional braces – if not more so. This search for the ideal brace has led to the regular emergence of new products on the market, which offers customers greater choice than ever before.
Invisalign® current aligners are the result of constant improvement and progression of the Invisalign® aligner system through the years using the huge available experience and technological advancements.
A beautiful smile is generally defined by the following:
Unlike traditional fixed braces, Invisalign® clear aligners are removable and nearly invisible.
Treatment for Invisalign® Express starts from about £2,250 and we offer a range of payment plans to make the process manageable for you.
We will take you through the Case Assessment, which is a simple set of photos to determine whether you are suitable for Invisalign® treatment.
If treatment is right for you, we’ll take photos, X-rays and digital scans, or a dental impression, of your teeth. Then we’ll create you a digital treatment plan, using our state of the art technology, showing you what your results could look like via a 3D video.
We'll give you a series of aligners to wear every day and change at home – on average every 1-2 weeks (as directed by your Dentist). You can comfortably wear your aligners for 22 hours a day (the recommended daily wear). And because they’re removable, it’s easy to maintain your normal oral hygiene routine and enjoy your usual diet.
We'll invite you back to the practice around every 4-6 weeks to monitor progress and hand over your new aligners. At the end of your treatment, you will need to wear your retainers to maintain your new smile.
Invisalign® is designed around transparent teeth aligners that are tailored to match individual patient dental requirements. So every Invisalign® solution is personalised to suit your teeth. Each aligner normally stays in place for around a fortnight, at which point your dentist will upgrade you to the next aligner in the set. Each aligner is designed to take your teeth ever closer to their optimum position.
Every patient must undergo an initial consultation with their dentist to identify whether Invisalign® is the right treatment for them. Your dentist will examine your teeth, evaluate your orthodontic requirements and recommend an appropriate solution. The Invisalign® procedure is not the right product for every type of orthodontic treatment, so it is important to enter the consultation with an open mind. The best option is to discuss with your dentist how you want your teeth to look at the end of the treatment;rather than focusing on which product you prefer.
Once the dentist has taken X-rays of your teeth, and photographed them, this information is given to the Invisalign® laboratory and a model is produced. Starting with this model, your dentist will show how your teeth need to move to reach the optimal point. With this information, Invisalign® produve a suite of aligners that are perfectly designed for you and you alone. Your dentist fits them and charts the progress of your teeth against the initial model, as each new aligner moves them.
While the Invisalign® procedure progresses, you must visit your dentist on a regular basis, so that he or she can check on developments and make necessary adjustments. The duration of the treatment depends on several factors, one of which is the severity of the case. The more severe the case, the more aligners you will be required to wear. On average, treatment times are between 12 to 18 months, but this varies from case to case. Invisalign® works only when it’s worn, so you’ll need to wear it at least 22 hours a day, removing it only when you’re eating or cleaning you teeth.
There’s never been a better time to join the 5 million Invisalign patients who’ve embraced their future with a smile.

Invisalign treatment is a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth. A series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth to move them little by little.
Each aligner is worn for about one to two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, gradually moving towards the projected final position.
Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible and typically hardly anyone notices that you’re wearing them.
Because Invisalign aligners are removable, you can eat and drink what you want during treatment by simply removing the aligners. You can also remove the aligners to brush and floss as you normally would to maintain your normal oral hygiene routine.
Unlike traditional fixed braces, there are no metal brackets or wires. This means that in most cases less time is required for adjustments and review appointments, making the experience more comfortable.
And finally, the Invisalign System allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan before you begin treatment, so you can see how your teeth are expected to look when your treatment is complete. This is a great tool we have here at Brighton Dental Clinic for you to confirm you are happy with what we can achieve for you with Invisalign.
As with other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost of Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of your teeth straightening issue and your course of treatment. As a general rule the cost for adults is comparable to traditional fixed braces and is typically between £2,500 and £4,000.
The time taken depends on the complexity of the treatment and is generally comparable to that of traditional braces. During your consultation, we can give you an estimate of treatment time. Most cases are completed between 4-12 months.
No – only your Invisalign Provider can determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment.
Only a fraction of dental practitioners are able to provide Invisalign treatment, however here at Brighton Dental Clinic, practitioners are Invisalign trained to help you achieve your oral health goals.

Impressions are taken The virtually invisible aligners are made of strong medical grade thermoplastic material, uniquely developed for the Invisalign® System. The aligners are custom-made for you and fit snugly over your teeth.
You should wear your aligners all the time during treatment, except when eating, brushing or flossing teeth. Recommended wear 22 hours a day.
Patients typically visit their Invisalign Provider every 4 to 8 weeks to ensure the treatment is progressing as planned, and to receive their next few sets of Invisalign aligners, but your Invisalign Provider will decide based on your treatment.
Some people may experience temporary, minor discomfort for a few days when they insert a new aligner at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It’s a sign that the aligners are working and it usually goes away in a couple of days.
No. Unlike traditional wires and brackets, with the Invisalign® System you can eat whatever you like while in treatment because you remove your aligners to eat and drink. This also makes it simple to brush and floss your teeth after each meal to maintain good oral hygiene, before re-inserting your aligners.
The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water and using the Invisalign Cleaning Crystals or special cleaning tablets. It’s important that you brush your teeth after each meal before re-inserting your aligners to maintain good oral hygiene.
The vast majority of patients report no effect on speech. However, as with traditional orthodontic appliances, there is an initial adjustment period associated with having something new in the mouth.
Smoking is still possible, however it is discouraged while wearing aligners because it is possible for the aligners to become stained or discoloured.
Chewing gum while wearing aligners is not advised as gum can stick to them. It is recommended that aligners be removed for all meals and snacks.
Wearing a retainer after any orthodontic treatment is an important step, because it keeps teeth stable in their new positions. If you want your teeth to remain in their ideal position, it’s best to wear a retainer as directed by your Brighton Dental Clinic Invisalign Provider. In many cases your last aligner will be your temporary retainer, until your retention option is determined. Your Invisalign Provider will advise you on longer term retention options.
